Our school works closely with all local secondary schools in the area. Throughout the year we partake in the many opportunities offered to primary schools, these have included sports events, art projects, science workshops, DT projects and MFL.

PGL Caythorpe Court

Our yearly residential to PGL Caythorpe encourages our Year 6 children to develop their independence and self belief through a variety of challenging, problem solving and team building activities. It is so much fun even the staff have a go!

Beaumanor Hall

At Beaumanor Hall the Year 4 children can take part in a range of team building, and adventurous activities while they face the challenge of being away from home for the first time with the school.  

The award-winning Lincolnshire Music Service provides music opportunities for children and young people throughout Lincolnshire. This outstanding service is the lead organisation of the Lincolnshire Music Education Hub funded by Arts Council England.

Our Key Stage 2 children have the opportunity to learn a musical instrument. Weekly lessons are provided by the Local Peripatetic service which culminates in a yearly concert.  A warning is necessary to Year 5 and 6 parents - Ear protectors may be necessary !

Throughout the year the school participates in local singing festivals, our latest being the Lincolnshire Young Voices festival in which our Year 4s performed at a local venue with other local schools.

The school is involved with many sports partnership programmes including:

• Jimmy 'Jumpshot' Smith a professional basketball coach. 

Our netball team, football, team and tag rugby team have all represented the school at local events.

Inspire+

Inspire+ is a unique charity. Their main service is to Primary schools, for which they provide a comprehensive package including specialist sports coaching that supports up-skilling teachers in delivering high quality PE & school sport, teacher training, programmes for Gifted & Talented pupils, mentoring programme to help those pupils who like sport but suffer with low confidence and much more. They also have a number of inspiration Ambassadors who make regular visits to schools and work with the children around various aspects which helped them succeed in their sporting achievements and over-come challenges they face growing up at school. Their ambassadors include Olympians, Paralympians and people who are truly inspiring in their achievements. They have also created a number of whole school resources to increase physical activity throughout the school across the curriculum whilst meeting the current Ofsted framework.

Each academic year concludes with over 2000 primary school children taking part in their own Mini Olympics at the Grantham Meres Athletics Stadium, which is organised by the charities secondary school volunteers; the Young Ambassador Steering Group.

Jimmy 'Jumpshot' Smith

Over the past 45 years, Coach Smith has  pioneered the teaching of mini-basketball to over 75,000 young people. Jimmy, originally from Baltimore, Maryland, USA and a 1976 graduate of Loyola University Maryland became the first full time Basketball Development Officer employed by a local authority in the United Kingdom. 

Since his appointment, there have been over 100 primary schools playing “mini-basketball” 

He is also on the coaching staff of the Great Britain Masters Women’s basketball programme.
