Science Boffins!

We celebrated British Science Week 2025 at Belton Lane by inviting in 'The Science Boffins'.

The day started with an unforgettable whole school assembly where Rita, our Science Boffin, got the children very excited about experiments.  She made elephant's toothpaste,  a live electrical circuit and even explained how sodium polyacrylate is the absorbent gel used in baby's nappies! Lots of fun was had before children went off into classrooms to do a day of practical science.

Key Stage Two had a 'Fantastic Flames' workshop where they were shown how to be safe in a fire and the essential elements of making a fire.  Rita even demonstrated this by making some fire flames!

The 'Space-Tacular' workshop explored how the planets in our solar system orbit the sun.  Children learnt about space, planets, gravity and all things galactic. A truly fun and extraordinary way of bringing the cosmos to life!

Practical science was happening all around the school today and children were emersed in their learning both inside and outside.  A great day was had by all!
