Last Sunday 8 students from Belton Lane Primary School were included in the Lincolnshire Basketball team  at the Under 11 County Basketball Festival at The Wildcat Arena in Nottingham. Held every year, it gives local players the opportunity to represent their county, whilst experiencing opposition from the East Midlands region who are very much accustomed to competition.  Coached by Jimmy 'Jumpshot' Smith and accompanied by team manager Miss Copping, the Lincolnshire team faced squads from Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Northamptonshire.

Coach Smith commented:

"The Children did themselves extremely proud! A decisive win against the Derbyshire A team was a huge step forward Lincolnshire basketball.

In summary, we are all tremendously pleased with the performance of all the members of the team, who were not only representing their schools but also Grantham and the county of Lincolnshire. We hope that this experience will encourage them to continue their basketball journey through secondary school and beyond!
